Capturing the dance of floating pigment on water to create one-of-a-kind, fluid patterns on paper.
It is a captivating, centuries-old craft where paint is floated on a liquid surface and combed into intricate designs. Every print is a unique "monoprint," capturing a single moment of movement on the water’s surface. It is a meditative process that balances technical skill with the organic, "wabi-sabi" beauty of fluid art.
What you will discover:
In this hands-on workshop, you will learn to:
• Prepare the "Size": Create the specialised liquid bath that allows paint to float.
• Surface Prep: Master the use of mordants to ensure your colors stay permanent and bright.
• Tool Techniques: Use combs, rakes, and styluses to create classic and contemporary patterns.
• Fluid Control: Learn how to manipulate surface tension to guide the paint.
• Drying & Finishing: Techniques for washing and pressing your paper for use in bookbinding or art.
